Reportor:Mark Rice

Report:Bounds for Aircraft Tracking using a Hydrophone Array

Reportor:Zhang Feng

Zhang Feng has worked as a principal engineer conducting applied research in DSP and telecommunications, and has published many journal papers including IEEE transactions on Communications and on Signal Processing. Her primary area of skill is in target tracking, data fusion, infrared sensor detection, digital signal processing, estimation theory, modelling, simulation, algorithms development, performance bounds derivation and performance evaluation.

She is experienced in aspects of satellite and telecommunications system and tracking, data fusion. She has worked on feasibility studies and conducted critical evaluations of new algorithms and draft specifications.  She has been an invited reviewer for the Synchronisation Section of IEEE Transactions on Communications for many years.

Mark Rice is Technical Director at Honeywell Global Tracking Australia and adjunct Professor with the University of South Australia.  Since graduating with a Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Manchester in 1989, he has made many contributions to the development of satellite communications systems for on-the-move applications.  This includes the air interface and terminal equipment design for the first L band regional voice system and Inmarsat’s Broadband Global Area Network.  Most recently, Mark’s interests have been in the areas of X and Ka band systems, and also Low Data Rate services and their applications in the Machine-2-Machine (M2M) field.

Mark was a founder of the technology company DSpace, and held the position of Chief Technical Officer. The company was acquired by EMS Technologies (NASDAQ: ELMG) in 2007 and in 2011 by Honeywell International (NYSE: HON).  Mark directed DSpace’s technology and product development, including the capture of key Intellectual Property.  Mark’s current position is within the Global Tracking business unit of Automated Control Systems.  Throughout his career, Mark has been privileged to consult for leading international satellite communications organisations and his work has been published in over forty technical articles including 5 patents.
