Title:Research on cooperative Video streaming and 3D reconfiguration based on mobile edge computing

Abstract:Recent technological advancements in wireless infrastructures and hand-held devices enable mobile users to enjoy the rich Internet contents anytime and anywhere. However, the Internet is not designed for real-time streaming. Multimedia content streaming usually presents several Quality of Service (QoS) requirements and differs from traditional file sharing in a number of key distinguishing features. Thus, how to evaluate and improve mobile video system performance has become an important issue. Besides, with diversification of distribution services, Multi-View Video (MVV) content distribution service will become popular in the future. As a result, adjusting the current scheme which evaluates and improves mobile video performance to fit the MVV is also a big challenge today.
As a significant element in computer-aided design, 3D model is widely used in various fields, including mechanical manufacturing, biomedical engineering, architectural design, etc. However, how to reconstruct 3D model based on the current mobile Internet is quite a big issue. The main problem which should be concerned is how to reduce the waiting time and wasted energy, while ensuring models' quality. We focus on pursuing the tradeoff between the above two aspects by taking advantage of mobile Internet. Based on the basic structure of the existing Internet and the essence of 3D model reconstruction, both the effectiveness and the efficiency can be achieved.
报告人简历:张琳,博士,教授,博士生导师,北京邮电大学信息与通信工程学院执行院长。1996年7月毕业于北京邮电大学,获工学学士学位。1996年9月至2000年9月在北京邮电大学硕博连读攻读博士学位。2000年12月至2002年12月在韩国科学技术院(KAIST)从事博士后研究工作; 2003年1月至2004年6月在新加坡南洋理工大学从事research fellow研究工作。2004年至今在北京邮电大学工作,历任副教授,教授,博士生导师。目前研究方向为:信息编码与网络优化、移动互联网、网联汽车信息化等。发表论文近百篇,包括15篇SCI论文,出版教材、专著、译著多部。
